polaroid ii

by Stephanie Kent

I wore my green dress and you pulled
your fingers through my hair as you told me
you had never seen November
in colors like these.

I stood like an evergreen (I
do not change with the months)
and my eyes watched the way the corner of
your mouth moves.

Your subtlety is becoming.
I see you unfolding like
a birdÂ’s wing; I want to be uprooted
with you when you learn to fly.

I really like the bird imagery, it's very original. vivid metaphors, they seem to stick with me after i've finished reading.

I love the transition from describing something concrete to abstract wants and musings. The narrative style feels so full and intelligent. Thank you for this. And congrats on potd!

I saw this POTD and had to start with the first piece in this series of yours...this one has the same effect as the previous one and is so full of beautiful and precise imagery...very nice...and very well deserved POTD...
