blot

by Kristina Woodhill

this day i pick the deepest reds
no soft pearl pinks
blues shunned, unsaid
these lips will bright
and say what wills
and if a childish sparkle fills
this lipstick's tube
that too i'll press
against this day's
awaiting flesh
the grandest smear
i've ever worn
will kiss full-mouthed
each hour adorned

i will not blot today

beautiful. I love the suggestiveness and boldnes of the decision not to "blot". I love "the day's awaiting flesh". And "kiss full-mouthed". Yes!

Your wit sparkles aplenty, WHY NOT have your lips match in the boldest colors? You go girl!

Fresh analogy of facing the day with full confidence and joy!

this ode is so wonderfully melodic. it speaks in tones that are metaphorically subtle.
