missing the obvious

by Charlie Morgan

shadings of my past colored
most of my future slate-gray;
and i am not a stone mason.

how to grip a sheer rock
and hold on for dear life
is the lesson involved.

and the lesson is repeated
until it is fully received,
eaten and digested.

take the spoon from the glass
and that constant eye-pain from
getting a drink will go away.

i like the last stanza, though i had to read it a couple of times to get my slowly revolving brain to put the thought together correctly.

Definitely! So many lessons I've chosen to ignore and they boomerang back into my life until I see their worth.

OH, do I see myself in this. The first two lines are sooo true and I love the use of shadings and colors. I also love the last stanza - have to laugh at the image and appreciate its simple truth, the obvious. Thanks!

Ack. It hits home so hard I think I've swallowed a hair ball. This one is biting! Nice!

Love the analogy, combination of concrete and human spiritualism here.

Hard-hitting and true to the bone, but that last stanza cracked me up. I appreciate your perspective, Charlie.

to learn to get a different result you have to change your action is a difficult lesson so many miss but even so obvious to some not always obvious to one...well put especially the last stanza...smh
