To the world pass by Keith D AllisonNow and Then
The whirl of the world
was once caught
by the touch of pen
the then of now
chocolate drops upon the tongue
the glory of cupcakes
when they were a full-size cakes
passing from the time of weight
to the measurement of the cup
Passing from the understanding
of time from time
we missed the glory from world to world
The dance upon the ice
missing the warmth within the mind
the beauty of the heart
I shall let you drink your coke
I shall pop the cap of red white and blue

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 10/21/07 at 02:19 PM Congratulations on POTD! I really enjoy the play on and with words here. The simple cup cake to popping the "cap of red white and blue" - words that evoke emotions and kinship. |

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 10/22/07 at 06:30 AM Wow, so happy to read this! I was lured to read it bottom to top as well-- it is very exciting that way too. A recipe with a frothiness, surprising and memorable tastes. Icing on the cake... it's a poem of the day! |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 10/24/07 at 04:24 PM I really like the opening stanza Keith. Opens up a lot of possibilities as you've done here. |
