Sorry

by Rula Shin

Please understand
How sorry I am
That I am NOT

And thank you
For humoring my please
As I pretend to soothe your heart

Thanks for understanding
How sorry I am
That I am NOT

And please donÂ’t
Hold sorry against me
When I hold it against myself
Balming my own wound
Not yoursÂ…

Absolutely wonderful! We always take care of ourselves first regardless of what we think we are doing. I tend to think it is like breathing. That is hard to give up so someone else can do it. Great write lady!

I like this. I like it a lot. Especially the last line.

Hi Rula....love this. Especially, that last stanza. Seems so many would hold being sorry against us....as if it were not enough. Thanks.

I missed this during my recess...both fascinating and welcome, to encounter the root state of 'wretchedness' in contrast with contemporary gesture of apology, along with all manna of linguistic polemics. I prize this gift of consolation :> Yes, missing the rules of the game...

would you allow me to leave this one word to describe this poem, Beautiful, and yet Beautiful is not enough to describe this poem but I would add the complement to go along which is to say I find this poem Deep as well in all the right places in which my eyes were intending to dive in and not bump their brows.
