Eat the World by Leah LaibenI'm afraid of machines
they might eat the world-
chew up the sovereign,
or swallow them whole.
I'm afraid of machines
the big and the small-
I can't leave a message
whenever I call.
They might eat the world,
the whole thing, you see
and if they do that,
they'll eat you and eat me.
So pick up the phone
before it rings-
I can't chance being eaten
by your answering machine. 07/15/2007 Posted on 07/15/2007 Copyright © 2024 Leah Laiben

Posted by Kyle Anne Kish on 07/16/07 at 04:13 PM The trouble is, they call them "answering machines," but they don't actually answer anything. What's up with that? Thought provoking poem. |
