Gas Hog by Charles E MinshallIt is my gas hog
It's not a hybrid,
It's tank is empty
Since yesterday.
I'm short the money
To fill the tank,
The oil refineries
Are the ones to thank.
Version Two
It is my gas hog
My only gas hog,
It's tank is empty
Since yesterday.
The oil refineries
Are the ones to thank,
For costs too high
To fill the tank.
In the garage
My gas hog will stay. 05/29/2007 Author's Note: Sing to you are my sunshine...Charlie

| Posted by Michelle Angelini on 05/30/07 at 04:56 AM YAY! The comedic muse is back in business. I laughed so hard! Maybe this is one reason I don't have a car - they are too much trouble. But they sure do get you places faster than the bus without the crowds... ;-)

| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 06/12/07 at 06:29 PM Both versions have their strengths Charlie, although after a few reads I have to say that the second version is my favourite. |
| Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 09/21/07 at 05:43 PM You're so funny Charlie, and I think sing the first first and them break into the full blown second in full throttle. I can just imagine you walking around your house, out into the yard, and into the garage singing this with gusto. Luckily you have only your one and "only" gas hog, and you're not a hog farmer! |
| Posted by Glenn Currier on 06/19/08 at 04:40 AM I wonder how many gas hogs will be killed or retired in the coming years. Heard today that people with Suburbans (as we once were) might as well give up on any trade-ins for the foreseeable future. The real hogs are not in the garages or roads, but in the paneled offices high above the rest of us paying mortals. |
