earlobes

by Emily Davidson

he told me
that i had adorable
earlobes
and it scared me to think
he could love me
down to such insignificant details;
i couldn't believe
that this was real

and in the end,
it wasn't.

This is one of those funny but oh so real heartaches we have all encountered, including men!

aw...crooked smile and a little chuckle.

Short and bittersweet. I like the story told here, the moment of possible happiness, the inner warning, and the all-too-true(false) ending. Nicely done.

Though provoking poem. Although I greatly enjoy nibbling on a woman's earlobes, I certainly wouldn't base love on that one piece of anatomy.

Nice mirroring of meaning and language...the shortness and the one central image matches the "insignificant detail", "in the end" matches the end, as it was, and it all has a good spoken feelng as if a shared sudden insight, or a thoughtful conclusion, realized and well put!
