Which Came First ...The Goose or Prozac?

by Kyle Anne Kish

“Cluck cluck ... gooooose!”

“Get away from me you dern rooster!
Peck, peck, cluck, peck.”
He thinks he rules the whole roost.
Look at all those hens gathered round
him hen pecking away like he’s the big
cock-a-doodle dandy. He can dandy up
every hen but I don’t plan on laying
anything but grade A, top of the line eggs.
No, I’m no chicken. I’m just
a mixed up goose on Prozac.

“Cluck, cluck ... gooooose!”

Prozac
is the leading
cause of goose bumps.

Having just watched "Charlotte's Web" 5 times with my students, I love the humor in this, especially as a comparison to humans. Congratulations on POTD!

Lots of delightful word play here, and I especially love the line-break --"round/ him henpecking away like he's..." as it can read two different meanings. (He is both doing and receiving the henpecking...) hee hee. Also like "I'm no chicken" as this also has double meanings in a funny way-- you're brave/ plus a goose... giggle...
