Another Day

by Alisa Js

I have to get out of my own way
to see the reflection
of all my tomorrows
taking their foot steps
towards my present and right now,
how can I know when opportunity comes calling?
if I do nothing other than blocking windows
of my soul,
with these silly tears
that come to refresh

let's call it that, anyway
sounds better, agree?
why live in delusions
and run after rainbows
when reality's just waiting
around that next corner
or maybe not yet
but soon ...

I've lived long enough to know
how to love,
and loved I have
so glorious,
intense
sheer bliss while it lasted
dismal when over,
a crap shoot
but hey, what can you say?
it's life
all in the roll of the dice,
all part of life
good or bad,
take the bitter with the sweet
memories with pain
the highs with the lows
I walk toward another spray
of sunbreezes
blowing in from the deep Pacific,
streaming with whispers and dreams
provide now, new hope
when I look at this appreciation in me ...

Great first stanza and follow-through.

"I have to get out of my own way to see the reflection of all my tomorrows" Don't we all. This is quite a thought provoking piece. You have a knack for going deep, and describing the pains of being human!

"I have to get out of my own way to see the reflection of all my tomorrows ... " ... you started out this poem by bringing in the gang busters, Alisa. This is a wonderful backwards and forwards look into one's own life ... deciding there's a new day ahead and that's okay. Not only did you start out with a bang, but the read straight through kept me on the edge of my seat, right down to, "... when I look at this appreciation in me ..." This is a fine piece of poetry and I'm adding it to my favorites. :)
