Days Evaporate...

by Rula Shin

Like a mist in the ascending sun
Determining the course of life
And I, stuck inside my head
A dark labyrinth of nowhere
Venturing out only to ease
The thirst of my external world
Ever encroaching upon my space
I try to expand in the time

How can the day hide its face
Without accounting for the hours it digests?
How can hours skip my threshold
Without knocking on my doors?
Can I let these precious moments slip by
Without one footprint of mine?

How can I justify taking time out
From Life's unstoppable continuum
Why can't I ride a moment
Letting it deliver me to the next
Filling me with LIFE
As I fill it with meaning

Very well said Rula! Amazing how time steals past us a second, an hour, or a year at at time.

"How can hours skip my threshold, Without knocking on my doors?" - such amazing imagery here.. how do we left the time fly by and we lose all that it encompassed! such a beautiful piece, rula.. glad to read a new post :)

Gosh, how I have missed your words and you!

In comparison of our two styles: you're reality is like a river, constantly flowing, changing. My reality is more like a mr. potato head, capable of being mixed up haphazardly in various positions to give it new life.

amazing. Very high calibre. Great to read you again. What an original approach to this subject.

Good to read you again Rula. I can certainly appreciate and relate to the sentiment behind this poem, and especially like the ring of that third stanza.

It's happening to all of us, dear one. Time is slipping crazily past in the fastest lane, and I KNOW I can't keep up! Although I do understand the desire to linger INSIDE, while outside the torrent rushes past. I love your words, Rula, as always!!!
