The Star That Shines by Kristina WoodhillLet the Star
That shines above us
Spark the Light that waits within
Let the flicker gently wake the Kindling,
Spreading warmth therein
Let this Heat that then transforms us
Build its Pyre that fills the Urn
From these ashes comes the Rebirth
Never scorched nor truly burned
And the Smoke that sends the message
Rides the Wind that feeds the Flame
And the fingers of the Fire reach out
And beckon every name
And some will search for Water
As they see the Flame approach
And some will seek the dry cool Earth
And hide beneath its Cloak
And some will tame the Wings of birds
To hide within a Cloud
And claim the Air above them
As an ever moving shroud
But there are those who seek the Cleansing
That the Water flows to give
And there are those who till the Earth
And plant the Seeds that Good may live
They, too, breath deeply of the Air
Through which their eyes see far
And with great joy
Embrace the Flame
And touch the Shining Star
Let the Star that shines above us,
Shines above us, shines above
Spark the Light that feeds the Flame
That burns with all consuming Love

| Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 12/21/06 at 05:48 AM I am truly loving this. So strong it could do without the fancy layout (IMHO). "Let this Heat that then transforms us, build its Pyre that fills the Urn, From these ashes comes the Rebirth, Never scorched nor truly burned" Fantastic slant rhyme (urn/burned) and many others. I have grown so tired of my own crass Christmas poetry...this is so very fresh, and at once timeless! Potd for sure. Way to go, Kristina! |
