Today I Lit A Candle by Joan SerratelliToday I lit
a candle
for my father
and as I said the Kaddish,
I cried
He would have been 86 today
I looked up
to the heavens
and thought
how good it was
that he didn't live
to see
what I've become
He only saw
my virtues
he never saw my pain
he didn't live
long enough
to see
what happened to me
Today I lit
a candle
for my father
and cried
and wished that
he was here
Happy birthday Daddy!
and rest in peace
know that
I always loved you
and that
will never change
12/03/2006 Author's Note: This is a repost. It is my late Dad's birthday. I just lit his "birthday" candle and I guess I need to share how dear he was (and still is) to me. He will remain in my heart and thoughts forever.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

I guess he loves you for whom you are, for you've become whom you are, ones illness is not considered between father and daughter as a no go area. Am so pleased you re-posted this one J, the magical world of the 2 d's dad's and dystonia. |

| Posted by Michelle Angelini on 12/07/06 at 02:41 AM Joan, your father saw you through the eyes of love and would accept and love you because you are his daughter. What you said here is beautiful and it's wonderful you remember him on each birthday. This way, when you meet him in Heaven, you can hand the candle to him and celebrate you're being together.
