TO A FALLEN STAR:

by Emily Tong

remember who you have been
remember who you are
and what it means to a
world, watching there, below.
remember the shattered wishes,
the useless daydreams,
and nightdreams.
and before you disappear
into the dust, into the wind
from whence you came,
think of me, and remember

Sometimes I start writing and it just comes out ... whatever it is, Emily. So, I understand where you are coming from here. Your poem makes me think of the vastness of the stars ... watching us every night and how the disappearance of just one can makes me think of how I am being watched by one less star. Does that star have memories? Perhaps it does. Very nicely written.

Whether or not you intended it, this poem is very complete and well constructed; pondering on a falling star, ending with a request for said star to remember you as well. Beginning and ending with the same word is a nice touch.
