Warm Saturdays With Emily

by Joe Cramer

You play in warm afternoon sun
With your new friends in the park.
I long for the day when we as a family
Can all enjoy the same, on a lark.

You sway on the park's swings
Not so different as I would
Have as a young child, so long ago.
A time I would go back to if I could.

Gone are the days of carefree play
As the time has passed into eternity.
Now the time is yours, for these brief moments
Moving forward again into obscurity.

Again you are playing on this warm day
As twilight softly into dark.
Happily you play the days away
On such warm Saturdays in the park.

Wonderful! I loved my time in the park with my family. Very special.

Honestly, how can one not be touched by this poem. It is so equipped to grasp the heart, as well it is so true to life, as I recall it. So true, our days. Our sweet and confectioned and light brimmed days that we lick down into obscurity.
