Fairy in White Lilies

by Rula Shin

She flits softly
Around my being
Adorned with strings
Of white lilies
Twirling and swirling
Caressing the rough edges
Of my private world, dancing

Dainty pearl, oh tiny fairy!
You are a flickering flame
Waltzing to the harmony of
Our vibrations, playing
Fluttering and floating
Soaring on the silent winds
Of all my gentle breaths

Quietly she lands
Upon my very being
Brushing her bare wings
Softly against my ear
Whispering and sighing
She sings
Adorned with strings
Of white lilies

My, my, what an exotic picture you have depicted of the fairy, adorning stings of white lilies, I saw once in my vision, ‘twirling and swirling’, obviously in a world, sacred and private. She was floating, teasing me, playing with me, laughing and singing, glowing with the beauty of love, touching the very core of my being. This beautiful piece of yours has imbued me with a longing to go back to that vision, in that sacred world of my fairy, adorned in just white lilies. This is beautiful.

A pretty subject and resulting poem to be sure Rula. A refreshing change from the ultra cerebral BE and BEING poems of recent months. Nice to see you back on the top 10. :o)

So many comments on the aesthetics here, and not being one to indulge in repetition, I'll confine myself to structural matters - just to observe that the first and last stanzas describe the experience to the reader, whereas the centrepiece is vocative, personal and if read carefully, a subtle contrast can be perceived, whereby the relationship is internalised, more intimate in essence, if not in language, although the style of the embracing lines is no less attractive. (I have other observations, more mundane in nature... :)

It's been a while since I found my way to your library, Rula. Such a dlightful treat this poem was. How easy to picture all of this. A wonderful write!
