Moment of Glory

by Glenn Currier

Sweet is the moment of glory
when talent and preparation
conflate with good will
and the irrepressible divine.

What tarnishes its grace
and tears the fragile tissue
of its sweet aftermath
is the covetous tendency
to clutch and claim it
as my own.

Well, any attainment is a positive impression with a beautiful chemistery. But yes, the EGO , the center of the world does, by its imposition and boastful bla bla, wastes the refined energies generated by this beautiful impression.

To have the wisdom to see both the action of oneself and the influence of the divine and then to realize and reject the impulse to negate that divine force is in itself a high achievement. You express that all so well here Glenn.

A moment of truth as well! You really imply what the Bible states. We are to do good that God may be glorified. Whether it is displaying talent or doing good deeds. Great message!

The soul vs. the ego. You really give much to think about in terms of enlightenment and from where it comes. I love this. The struggle is very sincere and honest - it we ALL could sturggle with such we'd be better for it.

A good bit of wisdom in this...something that really can only be learned I would think...I like the insight.

So true. I often feel I am merely the messenger, putting into words something that comes far beyond this keyboard.

Back for another read... and I like what Chris says. I find myself often accepting, as a messenger, the thought/concept that came from a Higher source. Sometimes I separate, sometimes I don't. Both angles are heady...

Hi Glenn. I think you've captured what is such a natural tendency with most everyone. Even the humblest need to reach out for a quick grad now and then. Great write, wonderful economy of words. Thanks.

Man, don't we all have the bad habit of being huge glory hogs. But I figure a little bit of ego isn't such a back thing. We just can't allow ourselves to fall off into the abyss of thinking we're more human than human.
