And Still

by Gregory R Schelske

ThereÂ…
In the tussles of my mind
Where fantasy and reality collide-
You are there.
Your smile, however weak,
shifts the stars and planets
and stillÂ…
You are there.
Your heart is the only window
to your soul and it beats with mine.
I capture glimpses of you
in the sunrise and sunset.
I hear you calling amidst
the sparrows and the hawks.
and stillÂ…
You are there.
Your fragrance escapes me –
still, I am reminded of the fragrance
that my lazy old river holds.
a fragrance of waitÂ…
a fragrance of soonÂ…
a fragrance of spilling over into my arms.
and stillÂ…
You are there.

Duke, thank you for this wonderful poem which describes so well how old loves can still ignite us. "There… In the tussles of my mind Where fantasy and reality collide- You are there." You had me hooked from the very first line. "Where fantasy and reality collide- ..." shows well how we build up a relationship as it fades and makes us cleave to it more. Well done, my fellow poet. :)

"Your smile – however weak, shifts the stars and planets and still…" was my favorite. This was beautiful.
