Temperature Adjustments

by Maureen Glaude

heat wave still on,
at last our aged mother’s
new air conditioner’s installed
to replace the failed one.

We sigh in relief
until her six a.m. call
the next day
to tell us she’s freezing.

Oh, ain't it the truth!! I'm so glad she won't melt, nevertheless.
