Escucho la Risa

by Lulu Alder

Between the hope and the disillusionment
in the calm of you...I find peace.
I pray at times, but the majority of the time, I listen.
I listen to the sounds of God in the flowers,
in the wind, in the summer,
and in the home.
The doubt melts away when I listen to the prayers of dappled lilies.

I believe in more when I have become more.
The hope is more, the calm is more, the peace is more
when the respect for others is more.
All of God is more in the listening.
His charitable love is found in the meadow's laughter.

Author's Note: This was an activity in my Spanish class. We were to write a poem inspired by Octavio Paz's "Entre lo Que Veo y Digo."

I'm glad you included both the spanish and english...I think it really adds to it. "I believe in more when I have become more." is a fantastic line. Hope you got an A :)

Most excellent - and I'm so glad you included both!

Que hermosa. Me encanta que escribas en español porque la lengua me parece mas elegante que ingles. Muy bien hecho.

A+++ and congratulations on POTD. The gentle side of nature is found in quiet communion with God. I know my monarch butterflies have landed on the flowers and in the meadows.

Wonderful choice for POTD. The meadow's laughter, indeed. I wish I'd written it.

this is an amazing poem, line breaks and flow, subject and execution, esp. loved that it can be read in both languages, the images you evoke an omnipotent grace only God can conjure...so much I loved, but if I had to pick a favorite line: "The doubt melts away when I listen to the prayers of dappled lilies. "...a pleasure to read you...congrats on a great poem! Peace, *jewels*

Excellent read. Got me to use my Spanish which I hadn't used in a while. Good job.

you choose your powerful words very delicately and meditatively, in their journeying toward the soul's tranquility.
