Once Again for Those in the Balcony by Christel CrewsAnd yes, I am jaded
Raised by the promise of
Happily ever after
Prince charming
The fairy tale lie
And yes, I am jaded
Believing that love would arrive
I was green; then
In yesterdayÂ’s heartache
Innocence was lost
And yes, I am jaded
Not pessimistic, only pragmatic
Without hope nor
Raising expectation
To be broken
And yes, I am jaded
And I will remain this way until
I see honesty in
The depth of his eyes
And the color of his tone
Only then
Perhaps I will believe
Again

Posted by Elizabeth Jill on 07/10/06 at 02:45 PM It comes and goes in drifts, skepticism...and it applies to both sides of the ocean...the east and the west. Beware of the undertow is Saving Grace's advice, while Seek ye first has often been the toughest...
Both are excellently presented, as is this poem!

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/11/06 at 01:11 AM A powerful down to earth expression of how we all must face the reality of love and relationship, and not to give up hope, though the fairy tale must be left far behind. |
