Posted by Christel Crews on 06/28/06 at 09:28 PM what an interesting look into such a sensitive situation! the symbolism is incredible and the truth comes out so clearly.. it is sad how we can be blind to the answer, or refuse to see it |
Posted by Elizabeth Jill on 06/30/06 at 04:51 PM I just don't know. I just don't know how people become blinded to their own behavior and resulting consequences. And I just don't know why not even one small reach for fresh connection and reconciliation seems so difficult for so many of humankind.
Perhaps this caught me on a gloomy day; the agility of your words moves me to wisdom's tears.
Penetrating poem, and deep insight. |

Posted by Peter Humphreys on 07/01/06 at 08:55 AM Gaps are so easily created and persist, when bridges can be, but are not, made strong or true enough. This speaks to the heart of our failed relationships. |
Posted by Michelle Angelini on 07/02/06 at 03:46 AM Incredibly bittersweet Kristina - sounds like the gap between my two brothers - each stubborn to the core. Your imagery and phrasing create such a vivid picture of two men who may never meet in the middle, until it becomes almost too late. I hope that doesn't happen.

Posted by Sandy M. Humphrey on 07/05/06 at 09:44 PM The imagery and symbolism of this piece is striking. I see my son and his father a little more than a decade ago and how I thought that bridge would never be crossed, through the love and understanding of a third party they have met in the middle. I will add this to my favorites. smh |
Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 07/07/06 at 01:40 AM Hi Kristina. I find much I like in this one. The format is great for what you've written...lots of hard stresses give a "construction" like sound. Fact is....no matter how good the bridge, some are just not able or willing to get off their own onto someone elses...Excellent poetics. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/12/06 at 04:00 PM Fascinating reflective analogy of relationship Kristina. Life is too short for this to go on, but as you noted in your Author's Note, it's up to the parties concerned to bridge the gap, hopefully before it's too late. I'm sure a lesson for many who are fortunate enough to read this. Well done. |
