much adieu about tattoos by Kristina Woodhillwhat do to
what to do
when I die,
with my tattoos
I love Mom
is on my chest
thats my first one
eighteens test
Cindy rides
upon my arm
muscles pulse
her ample charms
birthdays, christmas
sturgis trips
all begged for
those hued sharp tips
all my trips
on me engraved
panoramas
inked and saved
trips to vegas
trips to frisco
all my favorite
sci-fi heroes
swirling dragons
now embrace me
escheresqueish
worlds encase me
what to do
what to do
when I die,
with my tattoos
If tattoos
From toe to eye
I am covered
When I die
All my organs
Ill give gladly
To sick folks
Who need parts badly
take my bones
soon dried and hung
wind chimes make
such breezy songs
Please, though,
Take my outer canvas
To the tattoodermist
Office
Stretch me, frame me
Wall display me
Shine lights through
A tight lamp-shade me
Or inflate me
let me fly
artists windsock
to the sky
Promise me
Thats what youll do
When I die,
With my tattoos

Author's Note: A man came into the nursery yesterday with shoulders and upper arms encased in ink and artistry. I had a moment of tattoo envy. I have no tattoos. what to do, what to do.... :)

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 06/19/06 at 02:29 PM LOL! I was almost going to suggest that you turn your tatooed skin into lamp shades as I read this, but you beat me to the punch. There was apparently a female SS officer at the Buchenwald concetration camp during WWII that used to do that with the prisoners' tatoos. YIKES!
Posted by Vere Mantratriad on 06/20/06 at 12:14 AM I love this!!! Awesome. I *love* my tattoo...and have been dying to get another one. But knowing that I will still have them when I'm 90, I'm very picky....but when I have those perfect ones...I'm there. :)
Posted by Joan Serratelli on 06/20/06 at 01:04 AM As someone who does not like tattoos, I am glad you do not have one. I do, however, really like this piece. It made me smile and reminded me of John Irving's last novel, which I loved!

Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 06/20/06 at 04:19 PM Fun, Kristina! Personally, I'd like to get a tattoo of myself on my entire body...only two inches taller.
Posted by Christel Crews on 06/20/06 at 09:19 PM you know, i'm always envious of people who have the guts to get tattoos- what to do, indeed! this is a fun piece, flowing smoothly and altogether well written
Posted by Charles M Harrison on 08/02/06 at 02:50 AM I like this better than one I wrote called Tiger Eyes In Butterfly Wings. Well done.
