lakeside by A.M. Demarcocrest the hill, awe-struck.
sky opens wide.
all shinning
ten-thousand sparkling moments of the mist
turn back inwards, again upon themselves:
great big giant mirror
shouting the unspeakable.
this city, these lights, this shore.
greenest green green grass
soft and dewy under ruckous tread.
stillness and wonder in motion.
a start, a finish, transition all together now
we
pass the bottle. breathe the freedom. smile and know.
it is forever, only
apparent for a moment.

Posted by Leslie Ann Eisenberg on 06/12/06 at 08:03 PM what a snapshot! i don't know where this is, but with your vivid language, i can see it so clearly. the line break choices and the repetition create a choppy rhythm that i really dig, too. fave line - ten-thousand sparkling moments of the mist...and the third stanza is wondrous perfection. well done. Posted by Quinn Vokes on 05/16/07 at 04:59 PM I know exactly what you're showing here. I feel as if I've been at you're lakeside, once a long time ago. This poem has a nostalgic feeling to it, lovely and yet frightening at the same time. Beautiful. Congrats on POTD, you deserve it.
