Walking in the Spirit

by Tim D Livingston

There's no going back now.
I am engulfed in the midst of a dream
that has become for me
a great and dreadful reality.
Walking in the Spirit.
I've heard that phrase before.
Always tried to do it,
running screaming headfirst, headstrong.
and paralysis led to helpless dependence.

Oh my God He is rising within me.
Every prayer I ever prayed.
Fulfilling, fulfilling, fulfilling....
and this time I think I am willing.
Unafraid to be who I am,
And who I am becoming.

Carrying the weight of who I am.
No longer so quick to defend myself.
You will have to deal with the heaviness of my existence.
You will have to deal with the presence in my life.
You will have to either embrace or run
screaming in fear as I quietly type

There comes a time and place
where things are clicking
and nothing is pretentious.
Is it arrogance to know?
Not when I'm working out my salvation
with fear and trembling.
There is no self reliance,
and therefore, no self-glory.

Author's Note: What does it mean to walk in the Spirit? I don't think it's a constant higher state of mind. I believe it is being fully yourself. And never can you completely be fully yourself until you meet your Creator who is perfectly aware of what He's made and what you can do in Him.

a very deep, theological thought to start out my day.. this is a great piece full of wonder and questioning and submission

Congratulations on POTD (Mar. 23, 2011). A most worthy message. Praise God for His Spirit abiding in us when we are fully surrendered.

Your words bring hope and inspire faith. As a poet you opened the door for me to write more about my faith and love for our Lord. This is now on my favorites list. May God hold you and all our fellow poets in the palm of His hand.
