The Beginnings of The Ache

by Christel Crews

Eyes reminiscent of
desert sunsets
golden auburn
swirls of chocolate

Fingers intertwine like
a child entangles string
no clear line
between yours and mine

Lips draw near resembling
the yearning horizon
accepting the
surrendered sun

Author's Note: thanks to Lori for encouraging me to put into words what my mind has been thinking lately...

HI Christel. There is something peaceful and sublime here. Nice work!

I sense this. Settling softlike on my mind, Christel. And the color true to the poem.
I felt a peace, too. :)

Żes,'no clear line
between yours and mine'is what this beautiful ache is. But then, in the absence of any line, there is this ONENESS at all levels. Besides, this begining confines to this ache alone since in the absence of any line, there cannot be any end and in the absence of any end there cannot be any begining. Let this ache become eternal.

This is the kind of poem I always wish I could write. This stunning, winding imagery that brings you to your knees. Just beautiful.

Christel, I think you've spoken for many of us, with these gentle words of desire that all too often stay hidden in our hearts and spirits. I love the imagery you have crafted here.

Congrats on POTD! This really is quite stunning in its imagery. The last stanza is unique and so very moving.

Quite the innovative romantic piece Christel. I yearn to know more though as to why the ache?
