Oceans run deep

by Anne Engelen

there's a space between, filled
to overflowing, so when
I wish I knew how you were
all I have to do is feel for turbulance.
and though we're not close,
I'm close enough that you know you
will never drown.

and it is said that oceans divide
yet all it took was
touching the surface,
however small
to create a wave
that seems insignificant to most,
but to you reads like a novel.

feeling travels further through water.
this unspoken communication proves it.
there is comfort in the ocean between us.

and oceans run deep.

Indeed they do Anne. A well spoken support piece that I'm sure we all can benefit from. Cheers!

siamássimo! Beautiful! High Tides through Low Tides - this poem is a symphonic flow of how friendship endures each others flows. A very heart/mind transforming understanding of what truly matters in the heart of all closenesses. Magnificent! Good tidings to both of you! —Jill

Anne, I love the line: "and it is said that oceans divide." How wonderful this site and the poets that float upon it to make oceans and national boundaries into subjects of our human connection.

Looking through your library some and came across this. Loved it! Great symbolism, feeling and depth.

Using the ocean to express these feelings has given you sufficient ammo which you have very skillfully shot and penetrated us all with. Perhaps I just feel like I've been there before, but I feel the deepness and the vastness here, and even the infinite wave that "reads like a novel". Masterfully, written Anne. I'm giving it a POTD nomination.
