Campfire Confession by Julie Adams
Tell me, passionate flame,
when the sizzling cracks of your whip
flicker into the resilient night,
and your amber trestles tease the open air,
are you flirting?

| Posted by David R Spellman on 03/06/06 at 10:52 PM Having camped ever since I was three years old I have spent much time sitting by a campfire becoming mesmerized by its unfolding drama. Just had to read this when I saw the title and am glad I did. You capture a certain aspect of it so perfectly and provoked this reader's thoughts and imagination. Thanks! |

Brings back wonderful memories while at the same time causing me to have a different experience of these moments of romancing the flames. We are leaving for a camping trip next week, probably still cool enough to have a few good fires. Your poem makes me look forward to it even more. |
