body piercing saved my life

Scarlet scarred holy palms
Nailbound, rusted, bludgeoned feet
Bloodwater pouring, skin-soaked side
The final battle is now complete.

Author's Note: When I was 18 I went on a missions trip to Costa Rica. I made a friend on the trip named Jen who wore this light blue shirt that said "body piercing saved my life". I always loved that shirt. I though about it today and this poem came to me. :)

He was pierced for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities. Amen.

Of your faith, which I never shared as fervently, but always respected because it burns so bright in your heart and soul, I say: well-remembered! and well-created, like He who gave you inspiration

A vivid contrast to the body piercing I see all around me now. This piece strongly refocuses the mind.
