The sun forgot me and the moon doesn't care.

by Rebecca Lin

I lost the day
which I once held dear.
It's unshakable grasp of reality
no longer comforts me
or praises my being.
It is now merely
overwhelming
& I cannot get anything accomplished.

There was a time
when I could drift into sleep
naturally.
The night smothered me,
but with a warm embrace.
I knew nothing of the space around me.
Yet, it was all right
for my mind was being filled
with compelling dreams
filled with fluffy pink reassuring clouds
and balloon-shaped pieces of hope.

Now I live in the hours of darkness,
thrown out and into the
cold shadows of absolute void.
I no longer can take control of the day
(seize it).
The sun forgot me and the moon doesn't care.
The light dropped me as if a past relationship
and I never even got to say
"I love you."

I like this. It has a familiar feel for me. Relatability for sure. Well penned.

Well, the conflict is evident between what is and what should be.But then helpless we are, so far we dont concede this helplessness. And when we do, we are no more helpless. The association remains, hazy.

Beautiful. I love how you capture such emotion with just a simple but lovely placing of your words. You don't use fancy words but the imagery is very vivid, the message clear and the personification of the sun and moon as well as the last line bring the impact home. I envy the way you pour your angst into these words without choking an emotion. Getting that much emotion out and expressing it well is a skill to be admired in a poet most definitely. Nicely done.
