Evergreen, Oh Evergreen!

by Mary Ellen Smith

Evergreen, oh evergreen!

Sweeping boughs, nature seeded

Tinseled beauty, golden beaded

Gentle lights encircle you.

Evergreen, oh evergreen!

Treasures shaded, fancy glass

Candy canes, horns of brass

An angel on your crown.

Evergreen, oh evergreen!

Gratitude, thankful giving

Christmas spirit ever living

In this corner of the room.

Oh yes, (Merry) Ellen, pure delight! And around that tree, the best gift of all, the presence of happy family, wrapped up....in each other.

You've captured the beauty and spirit of the Christmas season in your words. It's not just the decorations, but the eternal symbolism of the evergreen. With the rhymes, you add a whimsical touch, making this a poem that both adults and children can relate to. Beautiful evergreen.
