October Line Dance

by Kristina Woodhill

Let's scrunch-toe through the piles of leaves
We'll wander under naked trees
Let's wave at Tiny Tim as we pass by
He's out there in his field of dreams
His dizzy tulip wanderings
Falsettoing his heartfelt lullabye.

He keeps on looking high and low
His uke twangs out its song of woe -
“Where did my friends, the tulips, go and hide?”
We tag him on the arm and prance
In tonga line we do our dance
The southward geese look down and honk in time.

With Tim in tow, we gather steam
Rakes thrown aside, kids’ faces gleam
The old kids leave their canes by rocking chairs.
There’s Seeger searching for his flowers
A young girl grabs his hand and showers
Confettied leaves upon his graying hair.

Our line swings round and hands unite
Unbroken circle holding tight
Shrieking laughter fills the air with sound
With single voice, hearts filled with fun
We all count down from three to one
And
All
Fall
Down

what a treat of imagination carried off by music and fine old-fashioned get-togethers you've given us here. Love It!
