Posted by Charlie Morgan on 08/27/05 at 03:29 PM ...rulashin, rulashin...WOW! i transposed "he" with "she" and in the form of my daughter from day one of birth, and would "try" to see the world the way she might, and yet through that venture i saw/felt so many of your descriptive lines and you have that way of making a sentence talk clearly, and with a resonance...this does exactly that to me...i was always the 'the changing lines'[i imagined in her eyes as she watched us move "over" her from her crib]...and, and well, i'm off in Wonderville 'cause that was 29 years ago...lovely, lovely, and serious provocation in this one...peace, chaz |
Posted by Scott Cadence on 08/30/05 at 07:42 PM omg. chills, first stanza is probably one of the best I have ever read. The whole thing is very ethereal, I absolutely love it - great vision. |
Posted by Scott Cadence on 08/30/05 at 07:48 PM oh, and the title - perfect and so true. Have you always been this wise? |

Posted by Max Bouillet on 09/02/05 at 02:55 PM Colorful blending of souls and spirits that emphasize the interconnectedness that is us. Everyone is looking for connections one to another and what they fail to realize is there is no connection. We simply are one. There is no connection. We are we and not a culmination of I's. I love your imagery. |
Posted by Ashok Sharda on 09/02/05 at 04:17 PM No man or woman can ever be a complete BEING unless he or she meets his or her counter part, complement each other not just in thoughts, not in emotions, not in words but in their approach towards every thing in their lives, in growing together in togetherness, in their understanding of self and the other, in feeling duty bound towards each other and sensing this ONENESS, actively, at all levels.
This poem, as Michelle pointed out, begins by presenting the one half with all his basic characteristics, the very essence of his being and there approaches the other half, as if in waiting, ever since the beginning of this endlessness and merges with her other half. This oneness is complete from with in as well from without as the space merges into time, as the essence dilutes with the essence, as all the colors mix, lose their separate identity and form a new color ‘One moment merges with one space
where through the mist she emerges
brushing tenderly his gray shades
her soft sweeping essence
percolating through his hazy pores’.
With this mixing of essence, they form a complete being, speaking without speaking with one mouth,’ singing wordless with one soul
they drink the elixir of life as
blurred beauty solidifies into
ONE COMPLETE BEING’.
Yes, they solidify into ONE COMPLETE BEING.
Rula Shin, what a beautiful scene you have depicted for those, who know not what love is, who know not what becoming ONE is, who knows not what makes us a complete BEING.

Posted by Glenn Currier on 09/03/05 at 04:49 AM The prism of your pen reflects a mind that is a garden rich with life and variety and a heart that refuses to be only a passer-by. I especially love the unions and connections your so artfully lay out for us to enter into ourselves if we but open the doors and climb through the windows. Your eyes see a depth that is supposed to be reserved for scripture writers and guardian angels. I dive into the mystery of your heart hoping to emerge with some of its light and color. Rula rules again. |
Posted by Mary Ellen Smith on 09/04/05 at 01:42 PM Like the twilight that comes but once a day, this seemed to me to be like that magical moment when day meets night..the mingling of colors, the perfect moment when they become one. Beautiful images play into the mind from your words. |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 09/07/05 at 02:43 PM you saw life as a flute and you blew through it your essence which is esquisitively present here and it lulls us to dream our own essences. |
Posted by Joan Serratelli on 04/19/06 at 07:19 PM This poem is perfect from the title to the last line. it is definitely one of your best. The images are vivid and very real...and if all that wasn't enough...there's the awesome last stanza. Absolutely wonderful Rula! |

I liken this poem to many things. I'm going to say, that a person could be looking for himself in the world. Where does he see himself (or herself), or perhaps with love, a person. You could really look at this several different ways, which is why your poetry is always so impressive. It can apply to all parts of life, and state true facts about any one of those parts. |
