saving grace by Morgan D Hafeleyou wrapped around my back
-asleep-
pieces of angels
tumbling carlessly through the sky
dusting every-last-inch (but me)
-my-eyes closed gently
revealing him-smiling coldly
against the usual darkness-abyss
surrounding-casting no shadows
he sees right through me
quietly behind-me-you whisper-
cry for your mother
still breathing softly-barely stirring
dusty bits of wing-and-halo
mother-mommy-mom-ma... silence
follows-laughter-screams(red)
children once were-whole(red)
scattered-scarred pieces(red)
heads stuck-wide-eyed(red)
he holds them-breathless-screaming-lifeless(demon)
shivering-i-stir a kiss
from you-like that-half
asleep you melt fear away
dusting-me angels sing
eyes-closed again-breath-
in peace-your head
covered in halos your back winged-my-saint-
my-angel-my-savior
wrapped around my back
-asleep-
now take me with you.

Posted by Sarah Graves on 07/30/05 at 02:07 AM This is an amazing piece, you intertwine humanity and divinity very well here.. there seems to be a vulnerable shadow throughout it. Exceptional work. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/30/05 at 04:05 PM Beautifully written, expressed, Morgan, with shades of light and darkness nicely woven together throughout. |
Posted by Kyle Anne Kish on 07/31/05 at 03:44 PM Morgan, I love the way emotions run so high in this piece ... from bliss, to dim, to terror and torment, to comfort and nurturing. Your last stanza really wrapped it all up (so to speak). Thanks for the read. |
