The River Epiphany

by Lacy D Phillips

A river seeks its own way to the ocean
just as my thoughts gravitate to you,
carve canyons through bedrock reason,
erode the ground on which my objections stand.
Eddies of uncertainty
hypnotize me in the absences,
but your presence floods my perception.
I am inundated merely by your nearness.
My concentration pools around you,
every reverie issues from your form
to converge on my senses,
a torrent of unexpressed imaginings.
This current knows no obstacle,
navigates doubt with fluid persistence.
I resist, but how much longer
can I refuse to risk the drowning.

Neat usage of extended metaphor to deliver the hydro. Wish I had written this...glad you did. Adds to favorites. :o)
