Hard Lesson

by Glenn Currier

It is a hard lesson.
I cannot extract myself
from my species
when it comes to learning
how to be human.

Much truth and wisdom here Glenn. And we never stop learning or having to relearn some of that lesson. Very well put sir!

Well, we just cannot extract our selves from our external. As a matter of fact, even if we succeed, where do we get impressions to survive. One can survive without air for some seconds, without food for days but not without impressions, the source of our energies.Besides, our external lives within in the form of associations.

Very wise indeed, this is the reason it's so difficult to SEE ourselves, how can one see himself when he cannot leave himself? When he cannot leave his thoughts, his associations, his fears, his projections etc? As always, Ashok seems to have said it best. I really like this Glen, great ideas are best when they come in few words. Wonderful :-)

So you've been there too! LOL!! You write simply but profoundly of the human condition!

Glenn, I've often thought like this. Your words touch on the bottom line that we need each other, no matter how independent our thinking and actions. It's when I encounter people who make me wonder about humanity, that I want to escape and be with non-human beings. Although I must say that I've seen more merciful treatment (sometimes) of one species toward another than from one human to another. Difficult to learn, as you say, and sometimes the lesson must be taught and retaught.
