Early Thrills

by Maureen Glaude

sneaking a few minutes
to stretch out together on
the couch, and cuddle
in our sweaters and jeans

holding on
to first bliss
and
ice cream sandwiches

Picture perfect capture of early romance, worth a laugh as well trying to keep the ice cream between the waffers, without it spilling all over one's fingers, especially on a hot summer's day.

what more could one want than what you have written and indicated here in your verse. I suppose sweaters should be as difficult and challenging to peel off as wrappers on ice scream sandwiches, then we'd be more appreciative of the confectionary they contain within.
