Gardenalot

by Mary Ellen Smith

In the fair land of Gardenalot
Amongst the flowers and seeds alot
Her reigning Majesty Queen Ladybug thought,
Twould be a fine day to invite her friends to tea.

Penned cards by the Queen's decree
Were sent out by royal bumblebee
"Please do come and take tea with me
In fair Gardenalot at two."

The table was set by Snapdragon Sue
The tea was steeped with fresh morning dew
With cakes, nectar scones and wild berries, blue.
The music by "Madam Flutterby".

At two the guests started dropping by.
Some came walking while others could fly.
The Gardenalot tea was drawing nigh.
Queen Ladybug clapped, "Why, this is grand!"

The guests lined up to kiss the Queen's hand,
Twas the finest tea in all the land.
And the guests began to dance to the Flutterby Band.
As they had their sweets and tea.

The son of Earwig, an Earl to be,
To the Queen said, "Please, won't you dance with me?"
He bowed like he was royalty.
And they waltzed with great delight.

Queen Ladybug's party went into the night.
They had to turn on the firefly light,
And instruct the mosquitos please not to bite
The guests on the Gardenalot lawn.

They came for tea and danced till dawn
Until the Queen began to yawn.
They said their goodbyes and soon were gone
As the sun peeked over the hill.

Another delightful fanciful poetic tale. Great fun! Should be read aloud to the little ones. :)

A lovely story to add to your fine collection :) You should put them all together and publish a book. I'd buy a copy!

Wonderous read takes me back to the Disney cartoons of my youth when such a party was easily to be found on the big or small screen. Where did such innocense go? Thanks for the return trip down fantasy lane Mary Ellen.
