Ode To The Litter Box by Fredrich MohreI awake at oh-dark-thirty,
To find the litter box is dirty.
My job's to clean and then detox,
And purify the litter box.
Without pretense, without disguising
This noxious scene, upon arising.
"It filled so quick"... my mind befuddles,
With nasty bits, and pools and puddles.
If odor is an indicator
I'll need a mask with ventilator.
So I bend down with scoop in hand,
To dig out all that smelly sand.
As I stoop, midst odor ranky
My creaky knees become quite cranky.
My mind is screaming, "MERCY, PLEAZZE
"
While grit and sand cut thru my knees.
Although I may sound like a whiner,
I've dug more nuggets than a Forty-niner.
Reloading litter, fresh and scoopable,
So the kitties will find it nice and poop-able.
I've cleaned you well, all nice and shiny,
To await the next cat's heiny.
Excuse me if I sound like bitchin'
I work more here, than in the kitchen.
Although I scrub and clean then scour,
You'll fill up again within the hour.
(Apologies, if I sound bitter
..
My world's made up of kitty litter )

| Posted by Kyle Anne Kish on 07/11/07 at 04:00 AM Fredrich, this poem got me to thinking and I'm gonna have a talk with my cat. I think it's time he started cleaning my toilet, despite the fact that it flushes. Thanks for the wonderful laugh. |
| Posted by Maude Curtis on 02/23/09 at 12:38 PM I printed this off and gave it to my 17 year old grandson, who is in charge of the litter box in their house. I acutally got a laugh from him instead of the usual weird stare. Thanks for the chuckles. |
