Chameleon

by Chris Sorrenti

Dressed in shades of controversy
chameleon
you make your way
it’s either black or white
the wisemen say
plodding their steel towers
but you see more than meets the eye
when the colors change
you change with them
knowing how easily wisemen can be fools
no they haven’t met you yet
chameleon

Camouflaged in neon and concrete
a jungle of technology
VCRs and computers
you know they’re nothing without energy
in your mind and in your hands
on empty pages stained with truth
when they read your words of wisdom
they will know
chameleon

And when the flood brings your poetry
no digital Ark will rescue them
as wisemen before
they’ll attempt to delete your software
unable to fit you to their checkered boards
only to lose you
incognito
changing your colors once again

Lyrical diodes and syllable microchips
these are your technology
and when the energy comes to claim you
you’ll alter your pigment one last time
your true colors will finally blossom
although becoming invisible

This is techno-spirtualism with digital re-incarnation. An awesome interpretation of the "recycle bin" that the great Code has set forth for each of us. Awesome read.

Environmental adaptation hard at work here, Chris. Kinda like stepping through a time warp. The last line really caps it off. Pe4ce...

Wonderful read Chris. All's I can say is WOW! Imagery is excellent, slightly sci-fi, but still grounded on earth.

this chameleon ( of a poem )certainly knows how to adapt, to camouflouge to its surroundings, whether it likes or not and offers one of the best lines to flow of your quill, ( the colors of controversy )
