After Christmas Muse by Mary Ellen SmithMy thoughts this day are as dry as the spent Christmas tree in the livingroom.
And so I look around for my good but long forgotten friend, Muse.
He has been neglectled too long I fear.
He is no where to be found and I miss his teasing.
I did not set out cookies for him.
No warm blanket.
I could have coaxed him with hot tea and a story by the fire,
but I did not take the time.
The busy days have left no room for vanities
such as rhyming words or ink stained fingers.
Orphaned strings of a's and b's and ah's and c's.
Come back to me.
Nevertheless I will put a brightly wrapped after Christmas gift on the back porch for him.
Maybe he will come around tomorrow.
01/01/2005 Author's Note: My dear Muse...if you happen to read this, I am sorry I forgot you for so long. It is a brand new year...please, lets do be friends again.

Posted by Charles E Minshall on 01/02/05 at 06:29 PM Grab some paper
A pen and some ink,
Sit down at the table,
Sit and just think.
The new year is here
Christmas has past,
I don't think
His absence will last.
Sorry ! I couldn't resist. Fun poem you wrote Mar...Charlie

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 01/05/05 at 02:36 PM Ah ha, maybe that's what I did wrong. My muse hasn't been around much lately either. Great idea M.E! |
