Pattern

by Jane E Pearce

Who made the template,

tissue thin, cut in pieces shaped

to fit like a puzzle? Laid

out, pinned to the future

that falls in soft folds until

molded to fate's darts,

and gussets, assembled

into a whole of sunsets,

 dawns, a plaid of liquid

salt, and laughing winds,

chaos and peace,

life and death.

.

Who made the template

that causes some days

to be held together

with dressmaker's pins?

gorgeous. I've been meaning to incorporate tissue into a poem, I like the tissue of Christmases, and this is wonderful, delicate and fabric-making of a day.

A fascinating piece in the discovery of how delicate and fragile life really is, eh. Great analogy, Jane. Pe4ce...

Beautiful...my Mom was a dressmaker and I like the analogy to nature and God. I loved reading this Jane.

Beautiful and delicate language, with a nice jab in the last stanza. Things like "soft folds" and "plaid of liquid" not only sound nice, but have meaning within the work.

Hi Jane. There are such great sounds here. I like ending with the question. Excellent.
