Tree Mischief

by Maureen Glaude

Tonight I caught our young cat
playing minor hockey
with a Christmas ball.

I heard the rolling on hardwood floor
found the evidence,
guessed the culprit
or rookie “star.”
Oh, she finds this
a merry adventure time.

now sitting pretty,
in seeming innocence
grey, white, ginger
with emerald eyes
in amidst the spruce boughs, spying.

Maureen, this little gem is delightful. The lovely imps over the years can't resist those shiny balls. How many times I had to rehang the whole lower half of the tree, but I adored them all-all 8 buried under our apple tree. Loved this.

Maureen, I have an indoor cat and could picture the whole scene with a smile on my face. Thanks! ~~ Kyle Anne

A scene that is happily played out in many homes! Very cute!

LOL! Great capture of feline mischielf. Sounds like Penny Lane could use some cat nip in her stocking for inspiring this playful piece.

The cats are indeed attracted by the glimmer and perhaps the scent of the pine (if a real tree). You catch beautifully a perhaps common event where there are cats (or small children). :)
