The World We Live In - 1 by Ashok Sharda
The world I perceive
Is the world of space and time
No boundaries.
Wise men claim
It had a beginning
It came into being
With a big bang
Where?
Can there be any where
Beyond anywhere?
The universe is expanding
It is a foregone conclusion
The wise men claimed again
Where is it expanding?
Nobody tells me.
And I wonder
Where is where?
In the absence of any possibility
Of any empirical evidence coming forth
I presume that in essence
Every thing is nothing
That is impregnant with something
That, in fact, is nothing
Called something.

Posted by Rula Shin on 10/13/04 at 04:25 PM Yes, and the big bang before it "BANGED" was supposedly the size of a small pearl...and outside this pearl? Nothing called 'something' which perhaps holds other pearls that perhaps which "BANGED" too, though we cannot see these for our world is currently our 'universe' which is actually not THE universe but where does our vision lead us to? Yes, that last stanza is the final conclusion absent of any objective truth and relative to my subjective vision...where is any place and space beyond? Where is any time out of time? Men, wise or not, will never stop asking because they will never know... |

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 10/14/04 at 05:17 PM we are where we have always been despite efforts to the contrary. we move thusly and thatly and say we've achieved a seperateness from ourselves where in essence we've achieved nill but expended much energy to prove otherwise. |
Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 10/15/04 at 01:49 AM You cleverly point out the sophistry of the reasoning that can only end in circles leading nowhere. As to a beginning, I start with God, omniscent, omnipotent, pure, holy--therefore dependable and traceable even in His creation. |
