Freshly Cut Grass by Gabrielle L GervaisWe sat in grasses that barely embraced the third freckle up from the planted point of my elbow. The shadows of my sunning limbs wrapped around your arms and neck, lingering slightly too long until the heat of the sky filled my legs and back with lighted matches. As I rotated, the sun whipped across your face, leaving me alone with your eyelids. Staring up at the stone-fringed sky, I like how even now, the seeing in your eyes is not the same as the seeking in mine.
We learned something supremely important that day- freshly cut grass is itchy. 09/27/2004 Posted on 10/13/2004 Copyright © 2024 Gabrielle L Gervais

Ohh, my two favorite lines of the whole piece! However, I most certainly don't shirk any of the rest of the piece either. Brilliant. My favorites have been added to.
