matches by Richard TrotterI search, like picking out matches
from patchworks of labouring bonfires
not knowing what will crumble in ash
and which will be A to my B,
will the wounds weep like sunlight
or recoil in blisters of woe? 09/16/2004 Posted on 09/16/2004 Copyright © 2025 Richard Trotter

Posted by Melissa Arel on 09/17/04 at 12:42 PM The last two lines were my favorite: "will the wounds weep like sunlight/or recoil in blisters of woe?" So much beauty in such quaint words.. I have always admired how you can take 2 knowingly simple words and fuse them together to make such gorgeous lines!

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 09/18/04 at 11:27 PM Brilliantly haunting...like Edgar Allan Poe circa 2004. Indeed, academy award winning line: will the wounds weep like sunlight.
