Born-Again Biker

by David R Spellman

carried away by hurricane winds
your chopper sent to ride the waves
now nothing left to anchor you there
the metal steed plows watery graves

blown up north upon a greyhound coach
with no place to live, all outta cash
whoever thought our paths would cross
if but for a moment, in such a flash

you told me stories of days gone past
of henchman duties, your enforcer deeds,
of angels from hell who smuggled grass,
left bodies decaying among the weeds

your tattoos boasted a colored life,
words attested to long-changed ways
how at last you gave your life to Him
now living peacefully these many days

I wondered how as we parted then
that our different lives had set their pace
and put us on such a different course
yet wound us up in this same place

You catch the thread of the biker's life succinctly, dramatically, and revealingly! The why of the meeting is, I think, not by chance.

Very nicely expressed David. A story poem with a strong moral message, and proof that even angels from Hell can change their ways.

You never know how the Almighty will work His ways. Great story, told so well....

It certainly is amazing to see and hear of the many paths to the top of the mountain, and the trials and tribulations that bring us to that end. Good stuff, Dave...pe4ce...

I love this testiment to the twists and turns of fate, and the people who breeze into and out of our lives seemingly for no reason. Great Read.. the cadence to this one is awesome.
