MISCARRIAGE by Melissa Arel
Taking shape within my womb
Seeded by love and dreams is
A child
Vomited from my uterus
Ripped from her only home
Rejected and abandoned
By my flesh and bone
My baby girl
Never given a chance to dance
Never given a chance to smile
A mother
Never given a chance to kiss
The cheek of her unborn child
08/26/2004 Author's Note: I didn't have a miscarriage, a friend of mine did. After trying for 7 years, they found out she was pregnant.. only to miscarry a week later. I felt so bad that I jotted this down.. its not amazing or particularly eloquent - just raw, like the feelings associated with it.

Posted by Maureen Glaude on 08/26/04 at 11:26 PM how sensitive and moving of you to write this for them. I was fortunate not to ever experience this loss either, but it's important to write about such ordeals and disappointments. Prayers for them all. Well done. |
