Invisible Wings

by JD Clay

Angels show up at unusual times

Their presence is not always clear

Throughout the day and into the night

They simply know when to appear

Sometimes they quietly guide us

Or light on our shoulder to sing

Effortlessly they teach us to soar

Just by taking us under their wing

Where have you hidden your halo

Anne Engelen I want to know

It’s evident you are an Angel

Leaving feathers wherever you go

You emulate comfort and kindness

Delivered with *hugs* and such

Transcending blind benevolence

Conveyed with an angelic touch

It’s difficult to put into words

The feelings I have deep inside

Unwittingly you have shined a light

That serves as the ultimate guide

Reflecting on answers to questions

On whether it’s farther on nearer

By staying in the present moment

I now see myself in your mirror

Revealing a hidden part of my core

That I was reluctant to show

It is your charming demeanor

That leads to a higher plateau

A beacon to illuminate shadows

The light that shines in your heart

Makes me the curious student

While playing the teacher part

Accepting the frailties of life itself

Your inquisitive mind has imbued

A new direction along this path

And the way my own is viewed

My eyes have now been opened

To a unifying message quite clear

In knowing that I am not alone

On a quest in conquering fear

Your poetic presence uplifting

In a display of wondrous things

But nothing compares to being

Touched with invisible wings

Wow! your poem really lives inside me, because I've been in situations & have/had friends (like Anne) that you make tribute to in your poem. The 7th stanza is my favorite. Thank you for a beautiful tribute.

This is a wonderful verse about a wonderful poet and angel with invisible wings. It sings to the soul as much as her words do. Awesome read.

The last stanza is the one I really like, (of course the rest of the poem too.)....Charlie

you could not have found a dearer soul to make subject matter, of such matters that concern the heart and this poem pumps hemoglobin to such places as were in substantive need. grazie Jadi
