My Tadpole Society Kukai Entry (Color)

by Maureen Glaude

pink cancer ribbons
over our breasts --
at her wake

07/16/2004

Author's Note: Dedicated to my late friends Jocelyne and Paulette and all the rest, those who beat it and those who we will lose or have lost, and their loved ones.

This just won me my first First Place in a Tadpole Society contest, on here, in the recent Kukai contest of haiku, in celebration of color.

Congrats on a well deserved win for a highly effective poem. Ironic, the ribbons over the breasts with so much breast cancer out there, and we men getting up there in age now have to worry more and more about prostate cancer.

Ribbons promoting 'awareness', 'wake' was an effectively ironic and poignant conclusion. A well deserved success.

Says so much in so few choice words - the inferences are powerful. Great job with this Maureen!
